What do international students bring to the greater community when they choose to study in the U.S?

The article talks about why so many international students come to the US for studying. Some of them want to attend colleges or universities in the US, and others come to the US for improving their English. The international students also bring lots of benefits to the United States when they come here. In addition, the government of United States provides some supports to help the international students achieve their goals.

At present, more and more international students come to the United States to finish their colleges or university programs, and there are still more students who come from other countries for their language goals like IEPs or TESOL test. The data shows that there are more than one million international students who come to the US for their universities or colleges, and with over 100000 of those attending different English programs. Those students choose the right place for their educational purpose. Of course, they have brought lot of benefit to the greater community as well.

First, millions of international students bring economic advantage. Students who study in the US spend much money here, including tuition, cars, apartments, all kinds of expenses they need to pay. All of these increase the economy. Some parents have to accompany their kids who study in high school. This situation will cost much more for their families. The more students come here, the more cost will happen, and the more the economy will increase.

Second, students who can come to study here because most of them are the top students in their countries. So they also bring some bright sides to the US and influence American students in some way. In other words, students who come from different areas and American students can learn from each other well.

The last benefits is that some people who come from other countries bring their own culture and skills. For example, when Chinese people come the US, they also bring their classical culture to the US, like Chinese tea culture and traditional Chinese acupuncture. Some culture is very useful and helpful; it should be shared with people all over the world.

In short, lots of international students who study in the US bring many benefits in different field to this country. Without doubt, all of those are based on the fact the US providing different platforms and opportunities

What are some of the qualities of a good son or daughter? Have these qualities changed over time in your culture? Five reasons and examples to supports your answer.

   What are the qualities of a good son and daughter? Different periods and different cultures have different definitions. But for the judgements of humanity there should have some basic, qualities describe a good son or good daughter. Those qualities are always shining around people’s lives and push people to move forward forever. And those qualities will not be changed with the time passing by, even thoughts in different area or different culture, they will stable in people’s mind all the time. Those good qualities include kindness, honesty, ability of making money. A kind person always treats people or other species well. He/ She knows how to love and how to appreciate other people’s good behaviors. Honesty is very important quality for a person. If a person is not honest How do people believe him/her. She/ He may be cheating everything. The last one is ab that has ability to make money. The three qualities mentioned above are the same basic qualities for a good son and a good daughter.

   It is obvious that some qualities changed over time in our culture. For examples, for our parents’ generation, a good son or a daughter should have some good qualities to help their parents do some working, like planting, clearing or sewing. But now, parents hope their kids to study well and enter a good college or university. Another example is that good son or daughter should give back money or other stuffs to their parents when they grow up. But now, a good son or a daughter could make enough money for themselves and not be worried by their parents.

  No matter what the definition of the qualities of good son or a daughter changed. The basic rules are always there. The reason why the opinions of a good qualities change. Another reason is the policy of having baby in China. Most families only have one child. In short, the kindness, honesty, ability of making money and being grateful for something are good qualities of human being, it is some for a good son or a daughter.

How the be a good son or daughter

At this time it seems even dialing a mobile number is becoming too time consuming for our fast-paced time is precious society. So people always ignore lots of things. The even forget their family. First of all people should be a good son or daughter. In my opinion a good son or daughter should be filial and be honest with parents.

The Honesty is the most important, not only to be a good son or daughter but to be a good person although the times have changed honesty never changed. It is an important standard to evaluate a people of course that not only honest this one quality. However, a good son or daughter has many different qualities for example just like filial. This qualities would change as time goes on. In China Ancient times, son should live with their parent and grandparent even if they are married, but a girl is she is married, she has to live in her husband family and rarely visit her natural parents. So living with big family is called filial piety. But filial piety not only limited in this, in China Ancient people didn’t get haircut because of it is a symbol of filial piety. At this time filial piety has changed a lot. We don’t need to live with parent. After we got married, but we can live close to parents. It is easy to take care of them if they need help. If we don’t live in same city visit parent every year it is filial piety.

Almost parent will not need too much from their child So as a son or daughter we just take care of ourselves and don’t forget parent contact with them when we have free time.

what the International student brings to America

  At this time more and more students choose to study in America. Through the article people could find that choosing to study in USA not only brought $36 billion money to America ever year, but also gave America the best and brightest students from all parts of the globe. Unfortunately because of the various reasons international students study in USA is not enough safe.

  For almost every international students if they want to study in America the first of all they have to consider about the money because that the tuition is very expensive. This is an important part of the American economy. A country which wants to control the world for long times only use the talents from itself is not enough so its excellent education could help it attract the best talents. Then the talents would help United States dominate the Earth.

  The United States has long been a global leader all over the world. It makes too much conflict even though the USA uses the most advanced technological to antiterrorist. But the terrorist attacks often occur in America especially in recently year. So the international students will face a problem choosing the best education and worrying about the terrorist attack or just studying in their country? Weather the Americans could offer international students a safe place to learn and grow will influence how many international students will study in the USA. In the short run lose some international students will only lose some money but in long-term it will influence the American status of the world.

  So author wants the new government to pay attention to the international students. If the new president do like what he said in his speeches, author thought the American must lose lots of the international talent.

Ming's Time Writing # 3

            Nowadays, over one million international students from 175 countries came to the United States to learn. Also, more than 100,000 international students came to the United States for short-term English program. When international students come to the United States those students gibe the U.S.A great advantages. For instance, international students can bring economic advantages and cultural value to the global. Unfortunately, after Donald Trump became the 45^th president of the United States. Some of the instability may impact the U.S. education. Trump’s presidency will certainly have an impact on the U.S education market, but I think it will not be a great impact.

            First of all, the U.S education market has already make a ton of money from international students. According to the Joint Statement, “In 2015, international students added more than $36 billion to the U.S. economy, a $4 billion increase over the previous years.” This is a great economic advantage for the United States. This huge amount of money can affect the United States education market in a lot of ways. For instance, the U.S. government can use this money for states universities to make tuition cheaper for Americans. Also, can use this money to provide people with better infrastructure. As Trump’s inauguration speech indicates, he wants to rebuild infrastructure for the Americans. The Trump administration could spend money from international students.

            Second, the Trump administration wants to make America great again. How do we make America great again? As far as I am concerned, the Trump administration can use America education in the world’s leading position, to attract the best students came to the United States to help Americans reshape the glory.

            All in all, if the Trump administration wants to make America great again, if the Trump administration should keep the United States as a global leader in international education

                In Chinese traditional culture, we have a lot of stories about parents in very important to people and they work very hard to feed child and protect their child. For young generation, we have responsibility to take care our parents which mean people need to become a good son or daughter.

            First of all, the qualities of a good son are needed to be dedicated to family. For instance, in the past we had a book which talks about 24 very touching stories about parents are work very, very hard to feed their children and when those children become adults they devote almost their whole life to serving family. Nowadays, in China this ideology still has very important value to society. No matter how far you been. Whatever how power you have. Taking care parents is main priority during our whole life.

            Second, if one understands in Chinese culture devotion is very, very important one can understand everything below devotion. For example, when I was in China, from the elementary school to the university I support to be good student because if I became a good student I can made my parents feel very happy and after I finished university if I can find a good job. I can take care my parents very well.

            In addition, I never lie to my parents. I don’t want to hurt my parents. Because I think honesty also very important for me.

            All in all, competence, devotion, ability in school and honesty are all very important for me.

This article states that this English training organization, TESOL, hope for stable situation to expand their projects, and this situation also may help international students to pursue their academic, professional, and personal goals. Before Trump’s inauguration, this article was published, and it also refers to the fact that TESOL was afraid new policies may decrease the number of international students. In these five paragraphs, the author who wrote this article listed some benefits that international students bring to America. Moreover, their projects helped international students receive their goals. International students and this English training organization both of them realize their goals and bring benefits to each other.

For international students, they left home and pursued their goals for work, degree or life in a strange and foreign country. They have to suffer the culture collisions and language barriers. At the same time, they cannot even talk about it with their families because they cannot provide useful methods or information, and they do not want their families to worry about them. When staying at a country that is totally different from their homelands, they may feel loneliness or upset, especially during some festivals that their homelands are celebrating. Therefore, they try to celebrate overseas, so they bring their vulture to other countries. It is a win-win because this leads to different kinds of culture getting and creating the diversiform culture.

 For the foreign countries, they also receive more economic benefits from international students. The international students pay for various fees, so these support the schools that need to employ more people for work. International students not only provide employment opportunity but also stimulate consumption. When international students study and live in foreign countries, they need to purchase some daily products and even appliances and automobiles. Therefore, they create more business opportunities for native people. This is good for foreign countries. In the article, this point has been proved that international students brought 36 billion dollars to the U.S., an increase of 3 billion dollars from last year.

In conclusion, the English training organization, TESOL, urges the new president to take more flexible and open policies to allow more international students in to U.S.. This will provide better prospects for everyone.

When people were young, they desired to be good children at the most of time. In ancient China, parents hoped that their children would be honesty, brave and smart. For boys, they should have a successful job and be gentlemen. For girls, they had to be an expert at household and be ladies. Parents and traditional Chinese culture thought that these are very important and precious qualities. As time quickly passes, in modern society, some qualities such as smart, brave still are good and basic parts in children’s lives, but some have changed. In this essay, the writer will list three changes and explain the reasons.

First, household is not only the women’s good qualities. In past, men never took care of the household such as tidy up bed, cooking meal; they thought these works might hurt their respect. In contrast, doing household work is a basic and necessary skill of living. Please try to imagine, if a single man does not clean this home, he would be living in such terrible condition. At the same time, his image will drop down; no ladies will appreciate partners like that. Therefore, no matter whether it is boys or girls, when they are young, their parents will tell them how to clean their house and themselves.

Second, girls should be independent. In ancient China, girls had no right to leave home and have jobs. All their time, they just stayed at home, and all their money came from parents and husbands. If they were not rich, they might be bullied by their husbands. If they had a quantity of money and did meet the right man, they also had same situation. However, nowadays, women can work, and sometimes, they must work. Women need keep their economic independence because if they just have income, they have the right to talk some as men.

Third, children do not have to listen to parents’ opinions, especially in marriage, when they grow up. Even one hundred years ago, parents could decide children’s marriage and ignore their children’s opinions.  At that period, most children who they would marry, they simply accepted the person who was appointed by their parents. There were many tragedies at the age. Nevertheless, today a child have more choices to choose which boy or girl may be suitable. Maybe some argue that this is a representation that children lost the loyalty to parents. However, children should not keep the loyalty to parents all the time, devotion does not guarantee their future happiness.

In conclusion, many qualities have not changed, the changes just are the little part of it. In China, people still keep it and teach it to the next generation.

As a global lead in International education and culture exchange, the United States has provided a welcome environment for international students from all over the world. This article raises a concern about the uncertain political and economic climate that may make the United States less likely to offer international students a safe and stable place to learn and grow, especially after the inauguration of Donald Trump.

TESOL International Association, English USA, and UCIEP, these English language organizations strongly affirm their great support for helping international students and Intensive English programs (IEPs). The writer of article is urging for the U.S. government to continue creating welcome environment for international students and facilitate access to high-quality IEPs.

This article argues the issue about the current political and economic factors that may influence education for international students who come to the U.S. Educators and teachers, especially in the global education and English Language fields, are likely to pay much more attention to this article.

International students have become an integral financial part of many U.S. higher education institutions. The economic benefits from international students go beyond money spent on tuition fees and living expenses as well. International students are also helpful to bring more innovation and fill skills shortage in such fields as technology, science and engineering. Moreover, international students help promote a global and diverse learning environment for the U.S. education.

In sum, the U.S. government should continue to expand their efforts to help international students as well as support for high-quality IEPs.

How to be a good son or daughter?

The standards of defining a good son or daughter vary among different cultures and different families as well. A good son or daughter is widely considered as a person who stays and spends more time with his or her parents, and makes money to support the family.

Firstly, spending more time with parents is a good way of expressing willingness of taking care of parents. It used to be common to live with parents for a son after the son gets married. Living with parents means the son and his wife take responsibility for taking care of the parents, which is a fundamental standard to define a son as good. However, this quality has changed over these years. Nowadays, more and more families choose to live separately. Parents and their children would like to give more freedom to each other. Living together or separately cannot define the children as good or not. However, a good son or daughter is still willing to spare more time for their parents and help them whenever they need.

Secondly, making money and providing financial support to parents is also a widespread standard of defining a good son or daughter. A son or daughter who can earn more money and support his or her parents seems to be more responsible for parents than one who does not. However, this standard has changed a lot over years. Previously parents had to depend on their children when they became older because they had little savings for themselves. Nowadays, most of people have the fund for retirement like 401k when they get a job. Some parents also have the ability of saving money for future. Therefore, when they get older or retire, they are able to support themselves rather than financially rely on their children. As a result, making money and financially aiding parents has become less important to define a good son or daughter.

In sum, a good son or daughter should spend more time with parents to make them feel loved instead of being lonely. But they do not need to live with parents and give them a large amount of money. A good son or daughter can think about more creative and sincere ways to show their love and caring to parents.

For my part, I would like to improve my writing skills. I am confident that I do not need to pay much attention on my writing grammars or research skills. One thing that I would like to learn is how to write more logically and look more similar like native speakers. Different with others, I am the only one that need to work together with study. I have to say that right now, the winter break in China, is one of the busiest time for my work as we host lots of events and training programs on campus. But I will try my best on my study. Compared with this class last quarter, sometimes I got lost for this quarter because I felt that we may lack of a clear timetable for the assignments. Hope we can figure out a plan together to make our BEST Level 6 class work well for everyone. Thank you very much.

What is Important to me

I think most important for me is I have time to focus my TOEFL test. This is very important goal for me. So if I am not in school I will learn my TOEFL test book all the time. If we don't have a lot of homework or during the weekend I can prepare my TOEFL I will really happy about this. As far as I concerned, English just tool for everyone. What I learned is more important for me. So I firmly believe I can use this "tool" very well in one day. Thank you so much. Good night!

What do you do well?

I chose this question because it is important to remember that despite my weaknesses and shortcomings, I do many things well.  One of my greatest strengths is empathy.  I'm not saying that I always am aware of other people's feelings and that I am sensitive and wise all the time.  It's just that I think I have a certain intuition about people's feelings.  I often know when they are upset or if they are bored with the class.  I try to ask them and I'm usually willing to adjust things to try to make it more interesting for them.  So I guess that means I'm also flexible.  One student looked like she was really sad or angry or bored and I didn't know what it was.  I wasn't sure if she was mad at me or the class or just at life.  So I bided my time (i.e. waited patiently) and asked her when the time was right.  She revealed to me what it was and I just hope we can make the class at least somewhat of a home away from home.  I won't say her name but I think she knows who I'm talking about.  In sum, I think that, at least sometimes, I'm pretty good at noticing other people's emotional states and making an effort to comfort or address any issues they may have.

I am myself, I'm not others!

I think I'm a special student in our class because I'm much older than others. To be honest, I really don't want to be getting older. How nice when I was young! But I'm satisfied with my situation. I supposed that many young people would not be as good as with me when they were same age with me. Is it jealous in some way? Well anyway, I'm a kind-hearted and optimistic person. I have learned Chinese traditional medicine in the past two years. Learning other subjects is to explore outwards to get some knowledge. But learning Chinese traditional medicine is to know yourself inside including your physical body , your mental and your soul. Another benefit of learning Chinese traditional medicine Can make you know how to take care of yourself. I must admit that many people don't know how to treat themselves well. I did not used to know about it. I hope everyone would know how to treat themselves well and also could be treated well by others!
